£2,439.36 raised!

And, from just ONE birthday fundraiser!

With a few simple clicks, some social media stories and generous friends, in a matter of weeks, Gui Ramos has raised enough to build a freshwater well.

Access to clean water is essential to life, yet millions of people around the world lack this basic resource. Our “Have a Drink on Us Campaign” is dedicated to building wells in Africa and India to address this critical need. To date, we have built over 100 wells, helping to provide clean water to over  61,405 people.

This isn’t Gui’s first LNADJ fundraiser, he’s stepped up to change lives and save lives before, we caught up with him to find out why he chose to step up once more.

Tell us about one record that changed or saved your life?

“Liem – If Only (Lehult) It’s one of those records that I had on repeat and couldn’t stop listening to it when I first came across it. To this day when I play it, I have to play it at least 2-3 times in a row. It’s a feel good song with a beautiful vocal that always inspires me to want to do better and to do more… “If only I could, I’d make this world a better place.”

Why did you get involved with LNADJ?

“From 2015 to 2020 a couple of close friends, Johnny, Dylan, Sean, and I, were running an event planning company out of New York, called Munite (Music Unites); where we donated the money raised from each event to a selected charity. After working closely with Autism Speaks, American Cancer Society, Community Food Bank, YMCA, and many others, we came across LNADJ. Learning about LNADJ’s mission and the significance of their cause deeply resonated with us. It felt like the right organization to support, especially because we could physically see the impact of our donations once the wells were built.”

Why is our organisation important to you?

“It’s devastating to see what these communities without clean water must go through daily. The more I learned about the need for clean water globally, the more interested I became in wanting to do something about it. The number of diseases, loss of life, danger, and wasted time daily that they have to go through to drink contaminated water is heartbreaking. It gives me hope to know that there are people like Jonny and LNADJ’s team, along with Scott Harrison of Charity:water working on this major humanitarian global issue.”

With an online birthday fundraiser, you’ve raised more than enough to build a fresh-water well! What motivated you to take on this challenge?

“I recently read Scott Harrison’s book “Thirst” which opened my eyes to the harsh realities faced by communities without access to clean water. In the book, he travels to Africa as a volunteer, capturing photos and sharing touching stories of those impacted by this crisis. Hearing these stories and visualizing the images was a wake-up call for me to want to do something… even if it’s on a small scale, like aiming to build one well for one village.”

How are you feeling knowing your positive actions will impact the lives of many?

“It feels great! I’m happy to know that this effort will drastically change the lives of hundreds of people for the better. But it also feels great to know that many of my family and friends supported this campaign and collaborated to make this happen.”

What advice do you have for someone looking to make a real difference in the world?

“You were born with the ability to change someone’s life for the better. Don’t ever waste it!”
